Happy New Year!
We saw in the new year from the comfort of our home. We stayed up to toast in the new year with sparkling apple cider. We took fun pictures.
We ate some of our Rice Crispy Treats we made earlier in the evening, the end of 2025.
We played some games leading up to midnight, watching game fireworks after the countdown.
It was a quiet way to see out one year and welcome the next, but it was nice. It fits into our life.
Every year I still miss waking up Barry with a Happy New Year kiss. It still feels like it should be a part of it, quietly sneaking into our bed and tenderly kissing him awake.
The only time he stayed up for the New Year, was when we went out with friends on New Year's Eve. That was fun and they were memorable times. But most of my memories are of the traditional first kiss of the New Year, after the kids and I were done celebrating the beginning of thr new year with sparkling juice, taking pictures and eating whatever we made as the last treat of the year ending.
Knowing that my beloved husband is safe with Jesus takes the major sting out of the loss, and allows me to smile while remembering what was. He is with God and God watches over all of us.
When I look back on the year that has ended, I praise God for what He has done.
When I look at the coming year I praise God for what He will yet do in those days ahead. Through it all, life is just so much better with Jesus guiding it!
Stay strong! Happy New Year!
