For two thousand years, Christians have lived, worshipped, and guarded the sacred sites of the Holy Land. But the treatment of Christian communities has varied dramatically depending on who was in control.
Looking back, many church leaders and historians note that Christianity was actually more stable under the Ottomans than it is today. While Christians lived as second-class citizens under Islamic law, they were able to maintain their churches, protect holy sites, and live without constant fear of bombings and displacement.
Today, under the modern State of Israel and amid settler violence in the West Bank, Christian churches and communities face direct attacks, harassment, and decline. The contrast is stark.
Life Under the Ottoman Empire (1517–1917)
Protected Status: Christians were classified as dhimmi (“People of the Book”). They paid extra taxes and didn’t have full equality, but they were generally protected.
Church Safeguards: The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem were safeguarded. The Status Quo decree of 1852 legally protected ownership and usage rights at Christian holy sites, and it still governs them today.
Relative Stability: Communities in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Nazareth lived with fewer large-scale disruptions. Pilgrims traveled, clergy served, and the churches remained intact.
Christians didn’t have political power, but they had continuity, legal recognition, and the ability to worship without daily violence.
Christianity Under Fire Today
By contrast, modern Israel/Palestine is marked by wars, settler violence, and harassment that has hollowed out Christian presence in the land of its birth.
Churches Bombed and Struck
Holy Family Church, Gaza (the only Catholic church in Gaza) has been struck multiple times. In July 2025, tank fire hit the parish compound, killing civilians and injuring the priest. In December 2023, two women were shot dead inside the church grounds, which leaders blamed on an Israeli sniper.
Saint Porphyrius Church, Gaza was hit by an airstrike in October 2023, collapsing a building in its compound where hundreds were sheltering. At least 18 civilians were killed.
Arson and Settler Attacks
In Taybeh, the last all-Christian town in the West Bank, extremist settlers torched cars, scrawled graffiti, and even set fires near the ancient St. George Church and its cemetery. U.S. officials called the attack an “act of terror.” Christian patriarchs accused authorities of looking the other way.
Desecration and Harassment
In Jerusalem, more than 30 Christian graves were desecrated in 2023 at Mount Zion Cemetery, crosses smashed and tombstones toppled.
Christian clergy have repeatedly reported being spit on by ultra-nationalists in the Christian Quarter of the Old City. Shockingly, one Israeli politician even excused it as “an old tradition.”
During Easter 2025, permits for Christians from the West Bank to enter Jerusalem were slashed, with only a fraction allowed to worship at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
The Impact
Population Decline: Bethlehem, once majority Christian, now has only a small Christian minority. Emigration accelerates as families seek safety abroad.
Loss of Sanctuary: Churches that once provided protection are now targets, undermining their role as places of refuge.
Marginalization: Constant harassment, from vandalism to spitting at clergy, signals to Christians that they are unwelcome in their ancestral land.
Then vs. Now
Ottoman Era: Christians had second-class status, but churches were protected, communities were stable, and pilgrimages flourished.
Modern Era: Churches are bombed, Christian towns attacked, graves desecrated, clergy spat on, and holy sites restricted.
The result is undeniable: Christianity in the Holy Land has declined dramatically in the past century, not because of natural emigration, but because Christian life is harder to sustain than ever.
Conclusion
For centuries, Christians survived in the Holy Land under Muslim rule with their holy sites intact. Today, under modern conditions, churches are burned, bombed, desecrated, and harassed, while communities are dwindling to a shadow of what they once were.
The evidence is clear: Christianity is under fire in the land where it was born, and if nothing changes, the living presence of Christians in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Gaza could vanish within our lifetime.

In the early 20th century, Germany became the birthplace of one of the most radical social experiments in modern history: the creation of the world’s first “gender ideology clinic.” Its founder was Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld, a German-Jewish physician, sexologist, and activist. Hirschfeld established the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft (Institute for Sexual Science) in Berlin in 1919, shortly after World War I.
Hirschfeld and His Institute
The Institute was a groundbreaking hub for what today would be called “gender ideology.” It promoted theories about sexual identity, homosexuality, and gender roles that were far outside the mainstream of its time. Hirschfeld’s clinic offered some of the first known sex reassignment surgeries, hormone treatments, and counseling for people questioning their biological identity.
Hirschfeld, who was Jewish, believed that science should dismantle traditional understandings of sex and gender. He became one of the most outspoken advocates of sexual liberalism during the Weimar Republic, often clashing with conservatives, religious groups, and traditionalists who saw his work as an attack on family, morality, and culture.
The Nazi Response
When Adolf Hitler and the Nazis rose to power in 1933, Hirschfeld and his Institute became prime targets. To the Nazis, the Institute symbolized everything they despised: Jewish influence, sexual “degeneracy,” and cultural subversion. On May 6, 1933, Nazi students and stormtroopers raided Hirschfeld’s Institute, seized thousands of books, documents, and medical records, and burned them in a massive public book burning at Berlin’s Opernplatz.
This destruction was not only about silencing Hirschfeld—it was part of a broader campaign against what the Nazis called “un-German” thought. To them, shutting down the Institute was a victory over what they saw as moral corruption and Jewish influence on German culture.
Why It Was Seen as Censorship
From Hirschfeld’s perspective and that of his supporters, this was more than just the closing of a clinic—it was outright censorship. Jewish and progressive activists around the world condemned the attack, portraying it as proof that the Nazis were enemies of free thought and human rights. The destruction of the Institute was used as evidence that fascism was not just about politics but about controlling bodies, identities, and even private lives.
Legacy
Hirschfeld fled Germany and never returned, dying in exile in 1935. His Institute was erased from Germany, but his ideas did not disappear. Decades later, his pioneering work became the foundation for much of today’s gender theory, LGBT activism, and the medicalization of gender identity.
The irony is stark: what the Nazis thought they had destroyed in 1933 was resurrected after the war and has since spread globally. For some, Hirschfeld is remembered as a hero of sexual liberation. For others, he is the father of destructive ideologies that undermine family and tradition.

Netanyahu Funding Hamas Exposed by Matt Gaetz
Congressman Matt Gaetz just dropped a bombshell on Rumble: Benjamin Netanyahu was funneling $30 million a month to Hamas. That’s right — the same group Israel claims to be at war with, the same group used to justify endless U.S. aid, Netanyahu himself was bankrolling.
This isn’t some minor detail. It’s proof that the game is rigged. While Americans are told to wave the flag for Israel, while our tax dollars get shipped overseas, Israel’s own leader was funding the very group they say is the existential threat. That’s not just hypocrisy — that’s betrayal.
And here’s the kicker: you won’t hear this truth from people like Jeffrey Culp . Folks like him aren’t America First. They’re Israel First. Their entire job is to make sure Americans never turn on Israel, no matter how corrupt their leadership is, no matter how much it costs us. They’ll deflect, distract, and defend — but they’ll never put America ahead of their foreign allegiance....I'm sure Jeffrey will now attack Matt Gaetz and call Matt a liberal like he did me. Even though Matt has done more for this country then Jeffrey will ever do.
This is the dividing line: are you going to stand with America first, or are you going to cover for Israel’s lies? Matt Gaetz is exposing what others are too scared to say. And it’s time more of us stop letting so-called “conservatives” gaslight us into thinking loyalty to Israel equals loyalty to America.
Real Americans know better.
