They were a child of the world. Fleshy, impulsive, selfish and unspiritual but nevertheless a gift from God.
A child is an "uncertain being" so baby celebration was not a huge event as nowadays.
It was more apprehension over what the child will be.
In fact, the death of a righteous person was a more important celebration as it was clear to all who that person was.
Even though a child came from its mother womb, the parents would have a ceremony of adoption. Declaring that they would be responsible for investing and training the child "through" this decaying world and ready for the world everlasting.
However, the child was never called son until the Father declared that the family inheritance would be shared with that child.
💌 Emotional loyalty to a child has cause us to think that God is emotionally attached to us. Because he "invests" in us doesn't mean we get to share in His Kingdom to come.
We proof our faithfulness to God by our actions, our loyalty to him and our attitude toward learning more about the Fathers business.
