1st time trying a refractometer. Kinda makes me feel more like a mad scientist but all in all its just a more complicated way to do the exact same thing as with a hydrometer .????????

After fermentation the alcohol alters the refratometer reading therefore it requires a mathmatical formula to get your correct reading and for that reason i prefer the hydrometer however a hydrometer breaks really easy so having a refractometer around for emergency situations is a good idea .
