(Correct action with wrong intent) Christ died to put to death the sinfulness of our heart and mind (Cup and dish) so that the outside (actions) would be truly clean.
26 [Thou] blind Pharisee, cleanse first that [which is] within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead [men's] bones, and of all uncleanness. (Matthew 23:26-27, KJV).
Good works earn us nothing, but when they come from a spirit of humility and obedience to God, they are an outward evidence of the salvation being fulfilled within us. As James by the Holy Spirit said "Faith without works is dead"
