If we only accept the parts of God's Word that make use feel good, we are not worshiping God, but ourselves.

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. (Galatians 6:7-8, KJV)

There are few who find the way that leads to life. Jesus wasn't just speaking of eternal life, but a way of living that promotes life as special and sacred. Christ modeled this way of living for all who wish to follow after Him.

I am not there yet, but that is the finish line of the race of faith I am running.
Only by the blood of Christ and power of the Holy Spirit within me shall I finish this race.

22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? 23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. (1 Corinthians 10:22-23, KJV)
