View MoreAlllllllllllllllllllmost time! Can ya feel it?! I'm gettin' whiffs of that new server smell... with all the bells and whistles... So. In case anyone was curious. I'm writing again. Except this time, I'm sitting down with a crew of about 6 guys, and a few girls, and we're bringing my imaginary world to life. Everything from maps, to stat systems, to equipment lists, shops, NPCs, exchange rates on currency, infrastructure of the city it takes place in.... like an actual, solid story. They're all obsessed with it. I'm just the source of the information because it's in a world that has existed in my head since the 90s. The more questions they ask, the more they attempt to do, the more my world is filled in and takes shape as a living, breathing arena for the daily drama of a life lived in a mega-city amongst the most random populace imaginable. So we've got something like, 8 player characters and 4 major NPCs creating greatness, all getting pooled into the same writing program, Scrivener. We've covered all the fluff we need for now, and it's getting in to the nitty gritty of the game mechanics. I didn't want to have to remember a bunch of different dice rolls for different situations and actions, so I've gotten with google's AI to formulate a system of percentile dice (d100). Everybody starts off with a base luck of 25%. Then skills add to it. Then equipment. With the current model, a fully kitted out top tier character would have actions they could take that would have a 90% success rating when rolled. To make that not a universal roll, I added individual stats to target specific actions. Strength for pushing, pulling, lifting and soaking damage. Fighting for any martial abilities. Mind for analyzing data and maps and decoding things, as well as working with things like the LeftEye augmentation to discover new features of devices. So on and so forth, so different skills are boosted by different upgrades. A Flaws system was also added to remove luck from a roll, should the action trigger one of the flaws. Like our cybernetic combat platform Artemis, and his aversion to the shape of holes. Which ironically applies to his weapon of choice, an antimaterial cannon he can plug directly in to. He has semi-auto firing capacity, but every time he "pokes a hole" in something at long range he has to roll to not get creeped out by the hole, not the actual act, and run away from the scene. Anyway, in short: I'm creating a legit RPG. And by the time we're done, I might actually have something that a developer would be interested in picking up. Well, not I. We. This is a team effort. So! That'll be going on the docket as well as what morning streams I knock out. Should even be able to stream a session or five once I get permission to stream our sessions. Could make for fun late night entertainment. I've run a mini-campaign every day for the last two weeks and so far, everybody's had a blast every time we get together. Some hilarious moments play out, and a half decent story unfolds. Still going to be doing Storytime With Stubby in the meanwhile, starting 2/1/2026.
