Remembering Mom
Today, is the 15th anniversary of the death of my mom and I cannot help but think of her.
The older I get, the more I think about all that she did and went through. It was a spectacular feat actually, all that she did and survived.
There were so many things that she was there for, and after she was gone, so many things that she has missed.
I think about who she was. Not just as my motner, but as a person.
We only know so much of one another, especially those who raise us and feel responsible for us. They are seeing the world differently than we do. They have other concerns than we do.
And as we grow up, with our own responsibilities, we realize more of what our parents have gone through.
We see our history a little differently as we gain insights. We see it as more of a complete picture, not as much centered around how we were impacted by things.
It is really necessary to our growth, to see life in a fuller way. Seeing how God used things in our lives to help teach us valuable lessons when we least suspected it.
Stay strong! Remember, learn and grow in understanding.

Life Prevails
At the end of it all, life will prevail and death will be extinguished.
Life is the state of being that God created. Death is the interloper that cannot last forever.
Life is a miracle. Death is a curse.
Every time there is a birth, it speaks of hope, no matter what is going on in the world.
Every time there is a death, it speaks of brokenness.
Death is not natural, everything about it is unnatural.
But death was not a mistake, it was a consequence.
And the consequence of sin on a ageless world, had to be death. In that case, death is a mercy.
Death had to follow sin. It wasn't a pointless curse. Because sinful mankind cannot live forever, scheming and corrupting the world.
And a corrupted world cannot continue to exist, it needs to be destroyed and remade by the original Creator, God.
It needs to be recreated with no trace of corruption upon it.
To live forever requires the desire to live righteously, not wickedly.
So death had to be the consequence of sin, or every evil ruler would still be in power, with no chance of death snatching him away.
When evildoers die, it reminds everyone that they are mere humans, no matter how powerful they appeared to be.
When the righteous die, it speaks that there has to be more.
When Jesus returns His righteous followers will rise, incorruptible, joining their resurrected body to their spirit, that had been with Jesus since death.
And those who are alive and remain of His followers, when Jesus returns, will be transformed in the process.
Only God could do such a thing, and raise us up in our resurrected body, so even that is made new for us, not merely discarded.
Stay strong! Seek life in Jesus!
