Four Years Ago Today
Four years ago today our house burned to the ground. Remembering that day is not enjoyable, but remembering how God saw us through it brings a sense of peace.
Becauae even in such a horrific situation, God was working and helping our family. Four years later, He is still working things out, helping us.
We still feel the loss, even as we rebuild our lives and work on our home. It is not easy. There are all kinds of challenges we still face. It is more difficult because of those losses.
But we are encouraged by what is done, not discouraged by what still needs done. It just takes time, patience and hard work.
It has been rough. There is no getting around that. But Jesus makes things smoother even in the rough times.
This world will one day pass away. It wasn't meant to be our permanent home. God has a better place. Our life wrapped up in Jesus, eternal and unending, is what is permanent. Losses of all kinds remind us of that.
Stay strong! Let Jesus help you through everything in your life. It may be difficult at times, but with Jesus that burden is shared

Remember What Matters
It is easy for us to get caught up in this world and forget our purpose in being here.
It is not to get rich. It is not to be popular. It is not to be envied for our beauty or our talent.
God created us all with a purpose to dwell with Him, eternally, to share His life and His love
Though we were made to live in fellowship with God, forever, never to die, sin changed that reality.
And even though Jesus came in the flesh to pay the penalty for sin, in His body, on the cross, it is not an automatic redemption for any of us. We must choose it.
Jesus did all the hard work for us, but it won't count for us, unless we receive it.
To receive it we need to admit that we are not following the ways of God, that we are a sinner. And as a sinner we are condemned to death.
And even though Jesus paid that penalty, it is not accredited to our account until we use our free will to repent and turn away from our sin, and to surrender to Jesus as our Lord and Master.
That is the only way that our life ca truly begin, back at the starting point in fellowship with God.
From that point on, we can grow in the knowledge of God's will through reading and obeying His word.
Everything else we did before that point mades our journey easier or harder to reach Jesus.
Choices to seek out the truth or be content with not knowing, or believing a lie.
Choices of who we listen to, and what we accept as valuable.
It will all impact our outcome. Because this life is the only place we can choose. Death ends our choice, settling it forever.
Stay strong! Choose wisely! Choose to seek out Jesus and live for Him!
