Ingredients:

1 can beer (or other carbonated beverage)
3 tablespoons chicken seasoning (use ready or homemade)
for homemade chicken seasoning combine the following:
1.5 teaspoons each: basil, paprika, onion powder, rosemary, dry mustard
3/4 teaspoon each: ground thyme, black pepper, garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
Instructions:
Remove and discard any giblets inside the chicken.
Open the beer and empty half of the can.
Rub the chicken seasoning all over the chicken.
Place the chicken over the half-empty can of beer and set it securely in a cast iron pan or baking pan. Make sure the chicken fits securely.
Preheat oven to 190°C.
Place the skillet (baking pan) with the beer can chicken in the oven. Cook until tender (approximately 60-70 minutes).
If the chicken begins to brown too much on the outside, lightly tent with foil.
Carefully remove from the oven, discard beer can and rest 10 minutes, tented with foil, before carving.
