We cannot allow ourselves to become numb. Is it easier? Yes, in the short term, it is. However, it doesn’t help in the long term. Becoming numb to the fact that government, our government, is facilitating the billionaire tech bros as they throw up data center after data center across America, in areas where we’re already experiencing major rivers and lakes drying up, in areas where imminent domain is stealing families homes, land, livelihood, and health, and stealing our water which IS a human right, all while our military is being intertwined with the murderous state of Israel’s IDF, all while people are dying in mass from Ebola in the Congo, all while white extremists are cheering for the abuse of immigrants here, all while… all while… all while… the lists go on and on and on and on. It is a lot. You aren’t imagining it. You’re not broken or defeated because you see it. It is by design. They want us traumatized and helpless. They want us so overwhelmed that we shut down and tune out so that they can continue raping and pillaging and stealing everything that they possibly can from us, all the way down to our water, and any sliver of freedom that we may possibly have left. This has been in motion for my entire adult life, and honestly, much longer than that. It was a slow burn for many years, but look around now. How many privacies have we given up in the name of “safety”? Now our cities are littered with flock cameras which are primarily popping up in black and brown communities. They listen to our voices, record our movements, and then they feed all of it straight to Palantir and Israel. Let’s not forget that if you don’t agree with these atrocities that you’re now officially labeled a domestic terrorist. If we go numb, we’re doomed. If we don’t unite and realize that this is a class war and not a political party war, then we’d might as well kiss America goodbye and chalk it up to the failed democratic experiment that it’s turning out to be. So don’t go numb. Stay focused. Get organized. Connect with community. Overthrow the oligarchy.
