Nebraska wildfire 2026 — the largest wildfire in Nebraska history. Nebraska Morrill Fire burns 600,000 acres with zero containment as four fires rage across western and central Nebraska.
A grandmother died trying to evacuate. The Governor declared a state of emergency. The National Guard deployed Blackhawk helicopters. And one of the four fires started from a federal prescribed burn that the Forest Service says was within parameters — the same claim the agency made before the $5.45 billion Hermits Peak disaster in New Mexico.
