I have a favorite store... Rod's Western Palace
If you live in Ohio or own horses, you may be familiar with it. Giant horse on the roof of the store on the side of I-71 in Columbus, Ohio. You can't miss it. It's almost as famous as the Longanberger Basket.
Just about any item you bought me in that store would make this horse girl happy.
But my dad was always worried he'd buy the wrong thing. And he was too proud to just buy me a gift card. He wanted to give me something to unwrap on Christmas morning.
So every year, he'd buy me the most gaudy rodeo shirt he could find in the store.
I don't do loud colors or busy patterns, so he knew I'd return it and use the money to buy something I actually wanted.
Honestly, I wish he would have just gotten me the gift card. Heck, wrap it in a giant box and make it a gag.
To this day, I hate returning items to the store.
Do you have someone in your life who you just don't know how to shop for? They don't want some trinket to remind them you're thinking of them. They want something they can use.
