Isaiah 8:11-13 (NIV®)
This is what the LORD says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people: “Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.”
Our faith should inform our values and make a difference in how we see our world, and to whom we listen. You see, manipulating information to move people toward a certain agenda is not a new thing—Isaiah warned people about fake news in his day! He urged the people not to give in to fear and panic but to place their trust in God. We, too, need to know how to identify, hear, and choose God’s truth. That means we must care enough about it to do the hard work of excavating it for ourselves. We have to decide what we’re going to listen to and how we will allow it to impact our attitudes and actions. Deception swirls all around us, so we must ask the Holy Spirit to help us discern the truth and then, know how to live accordingly.
THINK ABOUT IT
The surest protection from deception is knowing and following God’s Word and character.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me cooperate with You and follow Your direction without reservation. Forgive me for following the opinions of others before Your truth. I choose Jesus as Lord of my entire life and repent of anything that separates me from Your best. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Blessings,
