For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Inspiration:
This question is one that has rung true throughout time. Some people seem to have everything: money, fame, health, love. Without the love of God, what does it mean? Without a faith in God, they will not be granted life eternal. Those things will perish, God's love will not. Which do you want?
Prayer:
Insightful God, inspire me to always understand the most valuable things in life. Lead me away from the temptations of the fleeting and perishable things, for these do not grant true satisfaction. The only satisfaction that I crave, Abba Father, is the satisfaction I shall get from loving You. I pray this in honor of my gratitude to You. Amen.

Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
Inspiration:
Israel had become a den of iniquity, a land of hypocrisy, a place where the poor were trodden down and the name of the Lord was not honored. But even in this sad state, if Israel would have truly repented, seeking to do good and not evil, God would have foregone the judgment that was coming upon them.
Prayer:
You, Lord, are the just judge of all the nations. You judged your people Israel for their sins, and you will not do less with the Gentiles. Blessed is that nation whose God is the Lord! But if men forget God and persist down the path to destruction, we know there is a just God in Heaven to whom they must answer. Let us not think that our nation is exempt from your judgments, O Lord, but let us seek real revival that you may bless us and not curse us, as a nation. Amen.

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
Inspiration:
Forgiveness is one of the most talked about concepts in the Bible. If it is talked about so much and God is ALWAYS willing to forgive us if we ask, what do you think He would want us to do when someone asks us for forgiveness?
Prayer:
Forgive me for my weaknesses, O Lord my Shepherd. I have rejected my fellow man on many occasions, causing harm when I should have followed thy steps. I have acted wickedly, and I beg that you forgive me and give me the wisdom to learn from my previous mistakes. With Jesus as my example, help me become a better person and an example for others. I pray this in His holy name. Amen.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Inspiration:
The natural man is born God's enemy, and is "at war" with God in his heart. But even while we were yet enemies, God sent his Son to die for us. Peace with God can only come when our sins which have offended him are dealt with, and that can only happen when the merit of Christ is applied to us. Then we are declared just before God by God Himself.
Prayer:
Thank you, Lord, for sending your Son to make peace with us, not by turning a blind eye to our sins but by paying for them on the cross. We know you are just and will be a just judge when you judge the world. We pray for our neighbors and friends and family that they may run to you for mercy and find it while the door of mercy is still open, if they have not already found peace with you. Amen.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Inspiration:
There is nothing in this world that doesn't amaze me. Nothing on this earth will last forever, but we should not be worried about what happens so much on this earth. We should be thinking about how we can be with the Lord forever. The dead believers of Christ will go first, and the living will go second. We must be a part of those groups that hear the trumpet call of God. Live your life in a way that it is possible.
Prayer:
Dear God, who art in heaven, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Grant me the wisdom to realize my mortal impermanence, for I so long for the day that I can join You and Jesus in Heaven. I desire to feel Your love forever and reciprocate it to You, but I know that I must purge myself of my sinful ways and ask forgiveness. I ask that You help me reach these lofty goals, for with You I know it is possible, my strength and redeemer, O Lord. Amen.

My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
Inspiration:
Ministers of the Gospel must do more than just preach a short invitation sermon and then disappear to be never heard from again. They should be concerned to travail and work and strive to see the character of Jesus Christ formed in the souls of their hearers. Nor should they give up until this has, by God's grace, been accomplished.
Prayer:
O Heavenly Father, you have called us out of darkness and into your glorious light. You have called us to be conformed to the image of your Son in holiness. Help us to heed messages truly based on your Word and to submit to your will for us. Form and fashion us by your Spirit through you Word that we may be transformed from the inside out into the likeness of Jesus. Amen.

Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
Inspiration:
Here Paul addresses both "our walk and our talk". We are to walk in wisdom and in a way that uses time wisely instead of wasting it. In doing this, unbelievers may be provoked to ask us why we live the way we do. Then we must answer with grace, wisdom, and appropriateness.
Prayer:
You have made us your witnesses, Lord, that you are God. Our actions and our words are a witness to the world. Let them be full of wisdom and love. Help us to know how to speak a word in season and how to speak the truth in love to others. Amen.

Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
Inspiration:
Nobody likes hearing about a problem that someone has with them from another person. Gossiping and talking behind people's backs are easy ways to distort the original message and blow things out of proportion. The Lord asks that we even have confidence when approaching Him (1 John 5: 14-15), so we should surely have confidence when approaching our brothers or sisters. Hear what they have to say, apologize for any wrongs you may have committed, and speak to them always with grace (Colossians 4: 5-6).
Prayer:
O God my Father, forgive me for my trespasses, and I will forgive those who have trespassed against me. Allow me the wisdom, Lord, to approach my brothers with a calm grace to deal with any problematic situation humbly. For I know that I am not the one that has the right to make judgments. Only You can judge me and others, but my pride has made others suffer in this regard. I shall do this hoping to live more like Your son, Jesus Christ, and it is in His name that I pray. Amen.

He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
Inspiration:
The "Three Hebrew Children" who refused to bow the knees to the idol of gold and worship it, were cast for their defiance into a fiery furnace that burned with incredible intensity. The man who threw them in died of heat because he came too close to the flames. But these men of faith were unhurt by the fire, and the preincarnate Christ walked with them in the midst of the furnace.
Prayer:
Lord, you will be with us when we take a stand for you in faith. When we defy the world's standards and refuse to fit in with the surrounding culture, we may pay a price. But we, like Daniel's three friends, must resolve not to bow to idols even if you do not rescue us from resultant suffering or even death. But we know that you can always deliver us and trust you will work all things together for our good. Amen.

And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
Inspiration:
Jesus chose the 12 disciples, knowing who they were and all of their future failings. He chose twelve "ordinary men". The group included lowly fishermen and despised tax collectors, and he even chose Judas Iscariot whom he knew would betray him. The 11 disciples became Apostles and founded the Church after Jesus sent them out to do so. They did great things for God, but in the beginning, they were full of blunders and mistakes.
Prayer:
I know, Lord, that You have chosen me to be your disciple. You did not choose me because of anything good you saw in me but purely in grace for your sovereign purposes. Whatever my failings, I take comfort in knowing that the Apostles failed also at first but that You ultimately worked mightily through them. You can do the same with all of Your children. Amen.

But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
Inspiration:
Many "believed" in Jesus because of seeing the miracles He did in Jerusalem (John 2:23), but these two verses strongly imply that many of these "believers" were not true converts. Saving faith is more than merely to recognize the facts about Jesus, to simply acknowledge that He is the promised Messiah. Physical miracles may have convinced these men of Christ's Messianic status, but many of them seem not to have experienced that "miracle of the soul" called conversion.
Prayer:
Lord, You did not put Your trust in men when You walked this earth. You did not seek to build up Your own fame or fortune or seek out flattery from men. You simply went about doing the work your Father gave You to do. May we who have experienced Your saving power follow Your example in this and seek simply to be faithful to You in all things. Amen.
