On Jan. 17, 1994, a magnitude-6.7 earthquake revealed some of the safety issues that Southern California needed to address...
The Photo is of the bridge collapse on I-5 just SE of our future home on Santa Clarita.
27 years ago my wife and I were living in West Hills CA. I'll never forget how the house shook that morning. Power was off so I went to the garage to listen to radio (which were broadcasting.) The neighbor lady was hollering for Help. Went over to help.. Thankfully several days later the power came back on but the cable service was out. I found a drug store which had a small battery powered 4 inch B/W TV. I bought their last one, so for the next few days we watched the local TV stations which of course were broadcasting continuous updates on damage and road closures.

It was a very rude awakening! I have a lot of pictures. When we were able, we rode our motorcycles & saw the devastation. The one picture that is hard to unsee was the apt. bldg that collapsed & a crib was crushed. I thanked God that the family was okay.
