THE SEVEN CULTURAL LIES — LIE #1
“IF I FEEL IT, IT MUST BE TRUE!”
John 17:17 (KJV)** — “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
One of the greatest deceptions of our generation is the belief that whatever a person FEELS must be true. Feelings have become the authority, while God's Word is questioned, ignored, or rejected.
We are raising a generation increasingly taught to follow their hearts, trust their emotions, and believe that truth is whatever they feel it should be.
But **feelings are not facts, emotions are not commandments, and sincerity does not make something right!**
**Jeremiah 17:9 — “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
Consider the consequences when feelings are allowed to govern our lives instead of God's Word.
**CONFUSION:** When emotions replace biblical convictions, right and wrong become matters of personal opinion, and sin is easily justified.
**DOUBT:** When Scripture contradicts personal feelings, people begin questioning God's Word rather than examining their own hearts.
**ANXIETY:** When confidence rests upon changing emotions instead of God's promises, peace becomes unstable and uncertainty grows.
**CHANGING EMOTIONS:** What feels right today may feel wrong tomorrow. Convictions built upon emotions will continually shift with circumstances.
**MISLEADING FEELINGS:** Feelings can convince you that disobedience is justified and sin is acceptable, even when God has clearly declared otherwise.
Proverbs 14:12 — “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Experiencing confusion, doubt, or anxiety does not automatically mean you are disobeying God. The danger begins when those feelings become your authority.
Parents, we must teach our children that truth is not determined by feelings, popularity, culture, or personal preferences. **God's Word establishes what is right and wrong!**
Feelings may explain what you are experiencing, but they cannot determine what is true.
When feelings become your authority, deception becomes your guide. And when deception becomes your guide, spiritual confusion and disorder follow.
God's Word must govern our feelings—not our feelings govern God's Word!
