#News Senate Majority Leader John Thune has announced he will seek re-election as the Republican leader next week, despite repeated criticism that he blocked President Trump's priorities, refused to bring a vote on the SAVE Act, and left 700 House-passed bills sitting on his desk.

Democrats flipped at least six or seven seats, including in deep-red states, and are projected to hold 54 or more seats once all the races are called.

Thune, 65, became Majority Leader in November 2024 after a contested race to succeed Mitch McConnell.

Critics say he has spent the past two years holding pro forma sessions to block Trump and refusing to codify Trump's executive orders.
What do you think, should Thune retain his leadership position? Or should Republicans oust him for damaging the party?
