America First
Flávio Bolsonaro is coming to America. After Brazil's disputed election, the regime moved to seize his passports and Lula's allies called for his arrest. Now Marco Rubio's State Department says it will issue U.S. visas to Bolsonaro and his family and allow them into the United States, according to a U.S. official cited by AP.
President Trump said Brazil's election looked rigged, and the response from Lula's government has only made that look worse. Canceling the passport of the opposition leader within hours of an election is what authoritarian governments do. Free countries don't treat political opponents like criminals.
America has always been a safe harbor for people fleeing political persecution, and this administration is standing up for an ally who stood with us. Thank you, Secretary Rubio. The free world is watching Brazil, and the United States is making it clear which side it's on.
