I remember this as if it were yesterday. Lamar University in Beaumont TX had the highest enrollment of Iranian students in the country. I talked to them a lot and wasn't surprised they ousted the Shah. But that never government was purged over a couple of years in the beginning to rid all of the socialists. Bani Sadr, the first president of the new Iranian Republic, fled to France where he lives today. Many fled or were murdered so the Islamists could take complete control.
