Major win for the Trump administration- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled in favor of the Trump administration's mandatory detention policy, determining that constitutional due process protections do NOT entitle illegal aliens held in immigration detention to bond hearings, regardless of the duration of their detention. This decision reverses a July 2026 ruling by a three-judge Fifth Circuit panel, which held that due process required the government to provide individualized bond hearings.
