Dumbest Gun Law Award goes to New Jersey, where owning or selling a SLINGSHOT could land you in prison for 18 months and cost you $10,000 in fines. I’m not joking. Under New Jersey Statute 2C:39-3(e), possessing a slingshot without an explainable lawful purpose is a fourth-degree felony. Selling slingshots is also criminalized under a separate statute. We’re talking about the same slingshots kids have been shooting rocks with for generations. Apparently, even those are too dangerous for New Jersey residents to own.It’s not enough for these politicians to regulate guns. They have to keep going. Look at the United Kingdom, where they heavily restricted firearms and have also banned certain types of knives. They never run out of things they want to control or tell you that you can’t use to defend yourself. New Jersey has reached the point where a childhood slingshot can carry a criminal penalty.
