When the DOJ announced voter fraud charges against 28 people in California on Oct.19,
they brought the cameras. News helicopters circled the arrest of a 72-year-old man in Commerce, and within minutes, President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson were using it as proof that Democrats are letting noncitizens vote.
One problem: according to voter records L.A Material reviewed, the man at the center of that media event is a registered Republican. Their review also found that the L.A. sweep arrested more registered Republicans than Democrats.
And the scale? Even if every charge sticks, that’s 28 people out of more than 23 million registered voters in California, or about 1 in 827,000.
What do you think? Is voting fraud an issue, or is it political theater? Let us know in the comments and follow Courier California for more election coverage.
