He's smiling because he isn't hiding anything.David Jenkins sits on the DSA's National Political Committee, the group's highest governing body. On camera, he said it plainly: "Our goal is liberation. Our goal is communism."When the DSA's national co-chair was asked about it this summer, he didn't deny it. He talked about a "big tent."Now look at the bottom panel.The people who sell this movement to voters never lead with that line. And one of them explained why.In 2021, Zohran Mamdani, now New York City's mayor, told a Young DSA conference that student debt cancellation and Medicare for All had popular support. Then he named "the end goal of seizing the means of production" as something that didn't have support "at this very moment."That's the playbook. Lead with what polls well. Save the end goal for later.So what supporters hear is the brochure. Tax the billionaires. Free buses. Free college. Rent freezes. Spread the wealth.Plenty of people sign up for that sincerely. They're tired of high rent and high prices, and somebody promised relief.But "free" is just a price tag with someone else's name on it. Billionaires don't have enough money to fund a permanent free-everything state. When the top runs dry, the bill rolls down to the middle class, then to everyone.That's how forced "equality" works in practice. Everyone ends up equally poor, except the people running the government.None of this was ever a secret. Lenin taught that socialism was simply the first stage on the road to communism.And here's the test that never fails. Watch which way people run.Nobody builds rafts to escape into Cuba. East Germany didn't build the Berlin Wall to keep West Germans out. Those walls and guards faced inward.When a system has to lock its own citizens in, it has told you everything you need to know.If the DSA's own leadership says the goal is communism, why do so many politicians still want their endorsement?
