THE CROOKED RULER — WHEN MAN REDEFINES RIGHT AND WRONG!
Judges 17:6 — “In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”
Imagine a carpenter attempting to build a house using a different ruler for every measurement. One ruler is bent, another stretched, and another adjusted to whatever measurement he wants. The result? A crooked house!
You cannot build anything straight with a crooked ruler!
Yet this is precisely what is happening in America. People are measuring morality by their feelings, their experiences, their culture, and their personal opinions. Instead of changing their lives to agree with God's Word, they attempt to change God's Word to agree with their lives!
This is the foolishness of MORAL RELATIVISM!
Proverbs 16:25 (KJV) — “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Notice the warning: It SEEMETH right! A man can sincerely believe something is right and still be terribly wrong. Sincerity does not establish truth, and feelings do not determine righteousness.
God's Word is not a flexible measuring tape that stretches to accommodate our sins. His commandments do not bend with changing cultures, popular opinions, or the demands of society.
The purpose of God's Word is to measure and correct our lives, not to be adjusted to fit them!
And this problem is not limited to the lost world. Churches are increasingly tempted to exchange biblical convictions for cultural acceptance. What Scripture condemns, some now excuse. What God commands, some now call optional.
But changing the measurement never changes the truth!
The problem with a crooked ruler is not merely that it gives a wrong measurement. It convinces the person using it that everything crooked is straight!
America does not need a new standard of righteousness. We need to return to the one God has already given.
STOP BENDING THE RULER! STRAIGHTEN YOUR LIFE ACCORDING TO GOD'S WORD!
