The Federalist Papers Bernie Sanders and AOC want you to believe "democratic socialism" is something new and friendly.It isn't.The pitch never changes. Work hard, do everything right, and the government will decide who deserves what you earned. Usually somebody who didn't put in the effort.Calling it "democratic" doesn't change what it is. It just changes the packaging.Every step toward government control of your paycheck makes the next step easier. Democratic socialism is a pit stop, not a destination. The next stops are full socialism, then communism.And before anyone points to Europe as the success story, look at the numbers.In 2008, the European Union's economy was actually bigger than ours, $16.4 trillion to our $14.8 trillion.By 2023, America had rocketed to $27.7 trillion. The EU limped to $18.6 trillion.That isn't a gap. That's a canyon.Europe's economy went from 110% the size of ours to just 67%.Why? Europe keeps smothering its businesses in rules. Between 2019 and 2024, the EU passed about 13,000 legislative acts. The US passed about 3,500.Of the 50 largest tech companies on earth, only four are European.Every new regulation, tax, and mandate makes it a little harder to start a company, hire a worker, or take a risk. Eventually people stop trying.Even Europe's own leaders admit it. Former Italian prime minister Mario Draghi wrote a major report warning that Europe is falling behind and needs to cut its regulatory burden.So the model Bernie and AOC hold up as the dream is one Europe is now trying to escape.The bottom line is simple. Nothing humans have tried has created more prosperity, more opportunity, or more freedom than capitalism.Not even close.Would you rather live under America's economy or Europe's?
