Laura Ingraham recently made a bold statement about who is rooting for the Democrats, naming Iran, China, cartels, socialists, terrorists, and several left-wing groups. But how much of her argument is supported by evidence? There is some historical basis for her claims.
1. U.S. intelligence reported that Iran worked to undermine Trump’s reelection in 2020, while China preferred that Trump lose.
2. Socialists, NeverTrumpers, and many left-wing commentators have also openly opposed Trump.
3. Claims that cartels and terrorist organizations broadly support Democrats are much harder to establish. There is also a difference between opposing Trump and wanting America to become weaker.
Ingraham raises an interesting political argument, but her statement mixes documented facts, reasonable interpretations, and broad assumptions about people’s motives.
