Christa Pike is a murderer, and everyone concerned about her well-being needs to remember that. It took over an hour to establish an IV line? It’s taken over 30 years for TN to actually follow through with the jury’s verdict. The pentobarbital they gave her wasn’t enough to kill her? They should have kept giving her more. To stop at that point was egregious and seemingly pointless. Her lawyer has said, "She was not seeking to delay her execution. She was seeking to have that execution performed humanely and as quickly and as painlessly as possible." She certainly did not murder Colleen Slemmer as quickly or as painlessly as possible.What she actually did was slash Colleen’s body repeatedly with a box cutter while she was alive before ultimately killing her by smashing her skull with a large chunk of asphalt. Christa Pike then kept a piece of Colleen’s skull and showed it to multiple people. That piece of skull was a part of the trial, and although Colleen Slemmer's mother has repeatedly asked Tennessee authorities to return the fragment of skull for proper burial, it has continued to remain in the state's possession as evidence. Authorities have stated it would not be returned while the case remained open, awaiting Pike's execution.Imagine not being able to bury all of your child’s remains because her murderer has sat on death row for over 30 years. So, if you start feeling any sympathy for Christa Pike and her current situation, you should remember that Colleen Slemmer and her mother, May Martinez, are the only victims here.
