Hurt is a part of life. Sometimes it comes from strangers, sometimes from friends, and sometimes from the people we never expected to hurt us. But the answer to hurt is not bitterness. The answer is not revenge. The answer is not allowing anger to control the rest of your life. And the answer is not pretending it never happened. Sometimes healing means facing what happened, learning from it, setting necessary boundaries, and trusting God with what you cannot change.
Jesus prayed, “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me” but He also said, “nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Matthew 26:39
Sometimes we have to drink from a cup we never wanted to drink from. We didn’t choose the hurt. We didn’t ask for the disappointment. We wouldn’t have chosen the trial. But God can still use what we walk through to strengthen us, teach us, and draw us closer to Him. You may not get to choose every cup placed before you, but you can choose how you walk through it. Don’t let the hurt have the final word. Let God have the final word.
