Hardship does not grant a license to take another life. Race, motherhood, or chronic pain may be real and heavy, but they never justify murder. When courts and culture start treating motive as mitigation instead of evidence of choice, the law stops protecting the innocent and starts rewarding the violent.Every defendant in these cases made a decision that cannot be walked back. A young man stabbed another student. A mother ended the lives of her own children. A man hunted down an executive and shot him in the street. Sympathy for their struggles cannot erase the victims or the families left behind.Justice requires equal application of the law, not a sliding scale based on identity or grievance. Personal responsibility still matters. The era of excuses has to end if the next generation is going to grow up knowing that murder is never an acceptable answer.
