SAY HIS NAME: Dr. Idris Evans, 46. A pediatric critical care doctor at UPMC Children’s Hospital was stabbed to death in his own bed Thursday morning in Edgewood, just outside Pittsburgh, according to the reports. His wife was critically injured. Their two young kids, 8 and 12, escaped to a neighbor’s house. Police say Elijah Hemingway, 32, climbed through a window, went upstairs, and attacked the couple while they slept. He was wearing only underwear and talking about “being God.” Hemingway was out on no-cash bail. He had been arrested in July for a prior burglary and released without having to post money. During a search, detectives found Hemingway behind a nearby home, with “lacerations to his hand,” police said. He was detained and taken to an area hospital for treatment. A dedicated children’s doctor murdered in his home. His wife fighting for her life. The man accused of it already free on a previous felony.
