"BLOWING THE TRUMPET OF JUDGMENT" "And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the LORD.And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason." (2 Kings 11:13-14)When Amaziah died from the wounds inflicted by Jehu, his mother, Athaliah, decided to take over as supreme ruler. This wicked woman, (and when I say wicked, this gal was wicked clear to the bone,) killed all but one of her own grandchildren. A sister of Amaziah hid one of her nephews in the temple. When the child, Joash, was barely old enough to read and write, ole Athaliah reaped what she had sown. The priest Jehoida declared Joash king at the tender age of seven.Athaliah heard everyone shouting and clapping, and she screamed, "Treason, treason!" The people could have easily answered her, "Yes that was your crime." The wicked often accuse others of the things of which they are guilty. They are familiar with that sin because they live it daily, but in their twisted minds they have cleared themselves while accusing everyone else. We see that in every walk of life today, and they're shocked when justice against them prevails.The people may have wondered back then what happened to the justice of God. As time passed and Joash was aging, the animosity of the people was growing. The selfish reign of Athaliah and her love for Baal was causing the hatred that would erupt ushering in the justice of God. He has His perfect time for everything, including judgment.When we see wickedness prevail these days and are accused of the very things our adversary is guilty of, remember, Satan is the accuser of the brethren., those accusing wicked folks are simply doing the devil's business. God will deal with wickedness when the time is right. God is not looking the other way; He is looking my way and your way and takes note of the wickedness done to those who stand up for Jesus.Friends, you can mark this down in big letters. One day soon, the Trumpet of God will blow when the Lord Jesus Christ comes again, and Beloved, rest assured, judgment will be coming with Him! You do understand that, don't you?
