That is not enough room for a modern state dinner.So they pitch a tent on the South Lawn and host foreign dignitaries under canvas. President Clinton did it. President Obama did it. In 2009 the Obama White House put India’s prime minister under a heated tent with chandeliers hanging from poles.The tents leak. The grass turns to mud. Visiting leaders in formal clothes walk a football field to dinner. That is the official workaround because the house does not have a room big enough.Every president has changed the White House. Theodore Roosevelt built the West Wing. Franklin Roosevelt built the East Wing they now treat as untouchable.Harry Truman gutted the interior down to the outer walls. That includes their precious Barack Obama, who turned a tennis court into a basketball court.Nobody sued them. Nobody called it a crime against the country.President Trump tore down a worn East Wing and started a ballroom so the United States can host state dinners indoors. Donors paid for the building. Taxpayer money came in later for security, the same way security attaches to every White House project.Democrats went insane. They screamed. They took him to court.They fought him at every turn. The National Trust for Historic Preservation sued in December 2025.A federal judge tried to stop the work. Last month the Supreme Court let construction continue.Now they are talking about tearing the ballroom down if they win the presidency in 2028. Not because America needs a rented tent. Because Trump built it.That is not historic preservation. That is spite.The White House is a working house, and every president has treated it that way. The law does not flip because Donald Trump built the room the house actually needed.If Democrats take the White House in 2028, should taxpayers pay to tear down a finished ballroom so state dinners can go back under a tent?
