WHEN COMPLAINING BECOMES WHO YOU ARE “Do all things without murmurings and disputings:” — Philippians 2:14 KJV Complaining rarely stops with one complaint. We complain about this, then that, then something else. Before long, we are no longer simply responding to problems—we have developed a habit of looking for them. That habit changes us. We begin expecting the worst, noticing faults, blaming others, and overlooking what is good. Eventually, complaining produces discontentment; discontentment feeds bitterness; and bitterness often shows itself through anger. The frightening part is that everybody around us may see the change before we do. Sometimes the problem isn't everything around us. Sometimes we need to look in the mirror and examine the habit within us. “But let every man prove his own work…” — Galatians 6:4 KJV Don't allow today's complaint to become tomorrow's character. Break the habit with thankfulness.
