Do You Love Him?John 14:15, 21 “If ye love me, keep my commandments… He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” 1 John 4:19 - “We love him, because he first loved us.” Pastors will try just about anything these days to get people interested in coming to church and the things of God. First, let me say that I am all for getting people to come to church to plant the seed of the Gospel. And I love some of the ideas I see churches have to help get lost people to come. But our verses speak of those who love Jesus. The lost person does not naturally have any love for Jesus, nor are they interested in the things of God. The person who should love Jesus the most is the one who Jesus has saved! God help me if my pastor has to come up with some exciting event to get me interested and involved in coming to church. The Christian should have a great desire to come to church simply because he or she loves Jesus. We who are Christians love Him because He first loved us. He was the initiator of this love, and we should readily follow Him and obey His commandments by loving Him in return! I have always loved good fellowship with other Christians, and when there is a meal involved I love it even more! But meal or no meal, I have a desire to go to church. What interest do you have in going to church? Do you carry a desire to do what Jesus ask of you? Does the church have to offer you something in order to get you interested or keep you interested in attending?
