DO YOU BELIEVE THE GOSPEL? “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you THE gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received…” — 1 Corinthians 15:1 KJV Many people say, “I believe in Jesus.” But that statement by itself does NOT tell us what they believe about Jesus. Others believe in their church. They were baptized there, raised there, married there, and have attended there for years. But believing in a church is NOT believing the Gospel. So what IS the Gospel? Paul did NOT leave us guessing: “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” — 1 Corinthians 15:3–4There it is: DEATH — “Christ died for our sins.” BURIAL — “he was buried.” RESURRECTION — “he rose again the third day.”That is the Gospel. It is possible to believe Jesus existed without believing the Gospel. A person may admire His teachings, acknowledge Him as a historical figure, even call Him Lord—and still not understand what His death, burial, and resurrection accomplished for sinners. James reminds us: “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” — James 2:19 Saving faith is not merely believing certain facts about Jesus. It is trusting the Christ revealed in the Gospel—the One who died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. And your church cannot take His place. Your denomination didn't die for your sins. Your preacher wasn't buried for you. Your church didn't rise from the dead. Jesus Christ did! Paul said: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…” — Romans 1:16Don't merely ask, “Do I believe in Jesus?” Ask the deeper question: “HAVE I BELIEVED THE GOSPEL?”His DEATH. His BURIAL. His RESURRECTION. Not Jesus plus your church. Not Jesus plus baptism. Not Jesus plus good works.CHRIST ALONE—AND THE GOSPEL RECEIVED BY FAITH.
