It started when Vance brought up how El-Sayed claimed opposition to Sharia law in the United States was White Supremacy. #Michigan El-Sayed responded by asking if Vance would take Usha “back in time to meet Papaw.” Critics immediately called El-Sayed for what they called a race-based smear: that a white grandfather would never have accepted an Indian American daughter-in-law. El-Sayed also made comments about Usha's s*x life in what many called misogynistic and s*xist, while others accuse El-Sayed of being downright creepy.
