NO INSANITY PLEAS IN THE BIBLE Every time one of these high profile "insanity" cases goes to trial, the left gets away with placing all the emphasis on the mental state of the criminal instead of the crime itself, as if that is a vital issue that matters. It does NOT matter.God's word says a great deal about justice and punishing criminals, but it says NOTHING about rendering lesser punishment or no punishment for those with mental issues. In the Book, even a dangerous ox that kills a man is worthy of death, as is his owner (Exo. 21:29). God holds people accountable for their actions, regardless of their state of mind. A person doesn't have to kill someone just because they hear voices or feel depressed or violent. Jesus heard the devil telling him to jump from the pinnacle of the temple, but he didn't do it (Mat. 4). We all bear the responsibility to deny self and make wise choices, and we're all guilty of sin when we fail to do so. As the old adage goes, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Some people might need medication or counselling, while others might need to be saved and to become actively involved in a good church that encourages much prayer and Bible reading. Many people need to find some new friends and stop hanging out with losers, while others need to find better entertainment and probably less time on social media. The bottom line is that people are responsible for their actions. No jury needs to be debating whether a criminal was insane. It's not an issue in God's word, and it shouldn't be an issue in the criminal justice system. If you're mean to people, then you'll reap what you sow, and you'll answer to God. If you commit a crime, God's will is for you to be punished. Period. If you don't have a sound mind, you should be trying to get one (II Tim. 1:7; James 1:5) instead of using your mental issues as an excuse for evil. If you somehow manage to slither all the way through life, using your mental state as an excuse for wrongdoing, then your day of reckoning will come when you meet your Maker: "For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God." (Rom. 14:11)
