At cruising altitude, where the air is extremely cold, that vapour mixes with the surrounding air and freezes into tiny ice crystals, forming a contrail.If the air is dry, it disappears quickly.. It’s a condensation trail. That’s all. Compress air and when it re-expands quickly enough you get condensation. It’s as basic as science gets. That’s probably what is throwing off the conspiracy theorists.
