IT USED TO BOTHER ME
“Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.” — Ephesians 4:19
There was a time when your sin **bothered you.**
You knew it was wrong.
Your conscience troubled you.
You felt ashamed.
You knew something needed to change.
But instead of dealing with the sin, something else changed—
**YOU DID.**
You **justified** your sin.
You **ignored** your sin.
You **excused** your sin.
You **defended** your sin.
And eventually, instead of **fighting AGAINST your sin, you began fighting FOR your sin.**
That is a dangerous place to be.
The sin didn't become right simply because it stopped bothering you. **God's Word didn't change—you did.**
The Bible warns about becoming **“past feeling.”** Repeatedly resisting truth can harden the heart until what once brought conviction barely troubles you anymore.
“But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” — Hebrews 3:13 KJV**
Don't measure right and wrong by whether something **bothers you.** A hardened conscience can become comfortable with what God still calls sin.
If you find yourself constantly having to **justify, excuse, ignore, or defend** what God's Word condemns, the answer isn't to silence the conviction.
**Agree with God. Confess it. Forsake it.**
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” — Proverbs 28:13
It used to bother you.
If it doesn't anymore, ask yourself—WHY?
