Amanda Powell refused to abort her twins, allowing them to die in her loving arms.
Amanda & Jon Powell were thrilled to be expecting identical twin boys, Walker & Clark.
But at 15 weeks, Amanda began experiencing bleeding and went to the E.R. There, she learned she had a subchorionic hemorrhage and was placed on bed rest.
But, at 19 weeks, one of the twins’ waters broke.
Doctors offered to abort the babies, but Amanda refused, wanting to give them a chance. The boys needed 3 more weeks to be strong enough for doctors to intervene at birth.
But then tragedy struck.
Jonathan “Walker” Powell & Clark Alexander Powell were born a few days later at just 19 weeks & 3 days.
“Our perfect identical boys were born with strong, beating hearts, but at 19 weeks and 3 days they did not have the proper lung development to survive outside of my body. John and I were able to hold them and love them… They were very much alive at birth and Clark even startled to our voices a couple of times, which made our hearts feel joy even in the midst of so much pain.” - Amanda Powell
If Amanda and Jon had aborted Walter and Clark, their little boys would have been brutally dismembered limb from limb in a D&E abortion.
They would have felt the excruciating pain.
Instead, Amanda and Jon gave their children a chance to live and to die in their loving arms. Now, Amanda and Jon share their sons’ photos for others to see the humanity of preborn babies and reject abortion.
No matter the diagnosis, every child deserves a chance at life and love.
