EVEN NORTH KOREA CALL TRUMP OUT AS A LIARCOMPLETELY UNAWARE!” Kim Jong Un’s powerful sister TORPEDOES Trump’s claims of communication with North Korea just hours before his bizarre “57 nuclear weapons” boast!Donald Trump has been boasting again about his special relationship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. There’s just one problem: Kim’s own sister apparently has no idea what the hell he’s talking about.Trump claimed this morning that Kim had responded to his recent overtures for renewed talks. Asked directly whether the North Korean dictator had responded to his request for a conversation, Trump answered: “Yeah, he has.”That was news to Kim Yo Jong, Kim’s powerful sister and one of the most influential figures in the secretive North Korean regime.“Regarding the recent news from Washington about communication between the leaders of North Korea and the United States, I am completely unaware of it,” she said in a statement released through North Korean state media. She even twisted the knife a little, saying it would apparently be the *only* matter involving her brother’s foreign policy that she didn’t know about.Ms. Kim did say that her brother’s personal relationship with Trump remains “excellent.” But she dismissed Trump’s decision to scale back U.S.-South Korean military exercises and said North Korea still considers American policy toward the country to be “hostile.Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Trump made things even stranger and more surreal. “I know Kim Jong Un very well,” Trump said, before declaring that Kim has exactly “57 very powerful nuclear weapons.”Where did 57 come from? That’s oddly specific.Nobody outside North Korea publicly knows exactly how many assembled nuclear weapons Kim possesses. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute estimates around 60, and Reuters notes that official U.S. estimates are not publicly disclosed. If Trump was simply throwing out a number, that’s disturbing enough for a president talking about nuclear weapons. If “57” came from classified intelligence or some private communication with Kim, that raises an entirely different set of questions.Trump boasts that getting along with Kim is “a good thing, not a bad thing,” as though cozying up to a nuclear-armed dictator is itself some kind of diplomatic achievement. His first round of personal diplomacy with Kim produced plenty of photographs and “love letters,” but no denuclearization progress at all.Trump has always played fast and loose with facts, but this isn't his golf score or the lifespan of a slab of million-year granite. He's claiming private communications that North Korea says didn't happen and casually tossing out an exact number for one of the world's most secret nuclear arsenals, a number the U.S. government does not publicly disclose. When you're dealing with a hostile nuclear power, making things up, revealing things you shouldn't, or simply not knowing the difference between the two isn't funny. It's dangerous.
