"I HAVE MEAT TO EAT"
"But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of." (John 4:32)
Food is essential for life, for without it we wouldn't grow. We get strength and vitality from food. Yet, the wrong kind of food can cause us great harm. Improper diets are killing more people these days because it leads to various diseases.
But you know what? Our soul needs nourishment too, and without a steady intake of the teachings from God's Word, we'll never grow strong for Christ. Those Truths from the Scriptures, that we are not only to study, but apply to our lives, gives us the strength and vitality to live by faith. Jesus said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4)
From this verse in John 4, we see that our Saviour valued spiritual nourishment more than He valued physical nourishment. Likewise, we should set our ever-hungering sights on the things of God so that spiritual matters are more important to us than our physical food. I personally believe that the wrong kind of diet for the soul, which the world loves to cram down our throats, is the leading cause of doubt and depression among Christians. The Bible tells us in Romans 8:6, "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."
Multitudes these days are gorging themselves at the devil's table of accumulating wealth, instead of dining on the unsearchable riches of Christ. And that right there is the very reason why so many people will fall for anything that comes floatin' down that river of a religion that rejects God's Redeemer. Remember folks, that's the same bunch running around today who gag at Adam's rib and end up swallowing Darwin's monkey!
Friends, you and I have meat to eat. Therefore, let's keep feasting every day in God's Word and enjoy healthy spiritual meals that the Holy Spirit has already prepared for us.
