**WHEN YOU KNOW YOU’RE WRONG—BUT WON’T ADMIT IT** “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” — Proverbs 28:13 KJV** You can **know** something is wrong without ever **acknowledging** that you are wrong. When truth confronts us, pride often follows a dangerous PROGRESSION: **DEFEND** — *“I didn’t do anything wrong.”* — We justify ourselves instead of accepting responsibility. **DISMISS** — *“It’s not that big of a deal.”* — When we can’t defend it, we minimize it. **DEFLECT** — *“But what about what THEY did?”* We turn attention toward someone else’s wrong so we don’t have to face our own. **DISHONEST** — *“That isn’t what happened.”* When excuses fail, we may begin changing the story—leaving things out, twisting facts, or telling only the part that makes us look innocent. **DISHONORED** — Eventually, what pride tried to hide brings shame. “When pride cometh, then cometh shame…” — Proverbs 11:2 KJV The tragedy is that the original wrong could have been confessed and dealt with. Instead, pride added excuses, blame, and sometimes lies to something that simply needed repentance. David showed us the right response: “For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.” — Psalm 51:3 KJV There is freedom in finally saying: “God is right. I was wrong.” Someone else’s wrong does not make **your wrong right.** An explanation does not make **sin acceptable.** Changing the story does not change **the truth.**The road of pride is: DEFEND → DISMISS → DEFLECT → DISHONEST → DISHONORED But God's road is much better: CONFESS → FORSAKE → MERCY Stop trying to win the argument when God is trying to win your heart. The truth you refuse to acknowledge does not cease to be truth.
