Thinking And Doing Right Philippians 4:8-9 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” Here in this text the Holy Spirit makes the connection between thinking right and doing right. There are times when a person needs to change their mindset, sort of rewire their thinking. When someone thinks wrong over a period of time, it can very well lead to doing the wrong thing. Verse 8 tells us to think on the things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, and things that are of virtue and worthy of praise. In the next verse we are told to do those things you have learned, received, heard, and seen. If you want to change what you do, then change how you think. The best place to begin this process of change is the Word of God. How often do you study the Bible? Do you study it daily? Years ago, upon visiting the home of an older Christian I found the secret to his sweet disposition and faithfulness to God. On the table there was an open Bible, a Bible concordance, other books, and a note pad and pen. He was studying the Bible. I said, “Oh, you’re a preacher?” He said, “No, I’m just a Christian.” How has your thought life molded who you are?
