"GOD GUIDES US EVEN UNTO DEATH"
"What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah. ' (Psalm 89:48)
Death can be a rude visitor. Sometimes it arrives unwanted and sometimes it arrives unannounced. Other times we see it coming.
Death never takes a vacation and it certainly is no respecter of persons. Everyday, and in every part of the world, it does its dirty work by raising its black flag while digging graves and filling them with the bodies of the young and old alike. It doesn't care about our feelings. It takes no concern for the inconvenience it brings. It only wants to be answered. It takes who it wants whenever it wants.
I've been around for over 7 decades now, and I've watched death stomp through the lives of families making a mess of their emotions all the while wreaking havoc with those who are left to pick up the pieces. Death brings discomfort and inconvenience. It injures our hearts as it takes from us our loved ones.
Death comes calling on who it will, and we cannot escape its touch. For those of us who are in Christ, when death comes, we will dwell in that prepared place that Jesus promised. But for those who do not know Christ, their death will bring agonizing eternal fire. Yes, that is the reality that death introduces to those who are Captured without Christ.
As rude as death can be, for some it is a release from their sickness and pain. For those who have been stricken with years of suffering and have been forced to endure its torture, death can be a welcomed deliverance. We can also rejoice during those days of grief, like I did for the countless friends I've known and lost over the years, who knew Christ as their Saviour.
Oh, that's when the peace of God fills our hearts and assures us that we shall see those again who are absent from the body, yet present with the Lord.
Friends, when death comes calling, where will it take you? Are you secure in Christ? Have you trusted Him as Saviour for the forgiveness of sin? If not, you can turn to Him today and find the rest and peace He promises. Then, when death comes for you, God will be your Guide and He will escort you all the way Home!
