Today’s project is to recycle a fuel pump from my ATV, a HughsNet satellite dish, a five-gallon water tote that’s missing a lid and a 12V battery I replaced from the other ATV. The barrel is a recently-acquired one.
I also had some two-inch foam scrap and a variety of parts that came with the fuel pump kit.
Rainwater will collect into the system from the newly-added ATV awning. Any spillover will empty into a five-gallon bucket for the dogs.
In theory this will attract birds so that they can take baths and keep cool. I’ll recycle two 6V solar panels in series tomorrow to keep the battery charged.

Today, I'm installing a Renogy MPPT charge controller, a spare 12V deep-cycle lead-acid Marine battery and a 250W solar panel to replace the one earlier from the ATV. I had some small 6V solar panels in series but they weren't brining in enough power for the pump 24/7.

Sadly, the fancy MPPT charge controller increased the battery voltage to around 14.5V which was enough to destroy the inline pump. I spent some effort trying to find another pump but I'd have to order one online which I don't prefer. So I brought the pump to the vise, carefully pried it apart, inspe... View More
