The NYPD just sent a message every taxpayer can appreciate.**When a request was made to fund a security detail for a politician’s wife traveling to Lebanon and Syria, the department reportedly declined. Taxpayer dollars shouldn’t become a personal travel expense account, especially when NYPD officers are already working hard to keep New York City safe.Too often, public resources can feel like an open checkbook for political families and special privileges. Saying no reinforces accountability and makes clear that limited taxpayer-funded resources should be focused on legitimate public safety needs—not personal trips or VIP treatment.Credit to the men and women of the NYPD for holding the line.
