Being nice is a purely subjective personal opinion based on the sum total of any number of different emotional categories assigned by the person in question as relevant to their own bias and in proportion to their own likes and dislikes. This does not take into account the moment-to-moment changes in your mood or reactions to stimuli that others perceive and whether or not you are making an attempt to influence that judgment one way or another. Popularity usually means presenting a façade that fools others, this tends to avoid honesty. However, those who have a positive attitude and are genuinely empathetic tend to attract similar personalities. The question shouldn’t be are you nice, but are you honest, helpful, positive and empathetic? I am trying to work on my helpfulness and empathy, but I have always had a very low tolerance for wanton ignorance, incompetence and stupidity and no tolerance what so ever for those with deliberate evil intentions.
