It is extremely unwise to discuss politics, religion or sex in any business situation. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion regardless of what it may be. However, when it comes to business I am only concerned about competence, honesty, integrety, quality and value. This is especially true of celebrities; I don't care about their personal lives. I respect talent and don't want to spoil the effect learning about how stupid, irresponsible, amoral or loony some of these weirdoes live their lives. On the other hand, when it comes to my family and friends it is my prerogative to express my opinion, solicit theirs and engage in discussion and debate. I judge people based upon their responses in order to gauge logic, integrity, wisdom, experience, judgment and empathy. I have the right to discriminate and select the people who I choose to befriend, who I trust, who I respect, who I love and who I spend time with. I respect people who respect my opinion. I seldom respect people who express opinions diametrically opposed to my own, no matter how beautiful they are. Respect is not sought, bought, given or taken; it is not offered, borrowed, extorted or coerced. Respect can only be earned.
