**COUNTING IS NOT THE SAME AS THANKING** “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” — **1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV** You can count every blessing God has given you and still remain unthankful. You can name your job, home, family, health, food, and income—yet secretly covet something easier, larger, richer, or better. Counting merely recognizes what you have. **Thanksgiving recognizes Who gave it.** We complain about a difficult job while someone else is praying for employment. We complain about a challenging child while another couple weeps for a child of their own. We despise our small home while someone else has nowhere safe to sleep. We grumble over limited money while another person is drowning beneath crushing debt.The problem is not always that God has failed to bless us. Often, the problem is that covetousness has blinded us to the blessings already in our hands. “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have…” — **Hebrews 13:5 KJV** Covetousness looks at God’s provision and asks, **“Why didn’t I receive more?”** Thanksgiving looks at the same provision and says, **“Lord, I do not deserve what You have already given me.”** Do not merely count your blessings as though you were taking inventory. Thank God for them. Use them faithfully. Stop comparing them with what someone else possesses. What you call insufficient may be exactly what another person is begging God to provide. Count your blessings—but make certain your counting ends in thanksgiving, not covetousness.
